Rescue Engine Runs House Fire in Hughesville

On March 9, 2012, at 1001, Engine Comany 5 was dispatched to Arabian Court for the reported house fire. Rescue Engine 5-2 (F. Griffin) responded with 3. Engine 23 arrived on location with a two story single family house with heavy smoke showing. Rescue Engine 5-2 arrived on location. 5-2's crew pulled a second line off 23 and extended the line to side charlie. The crew was then assigned search. 5-2 did a primary search of the first floor with negative results while Hughesville's crew made a attack of the fire on the second floor. 5-2's crew then made a primary search of the basement with negative results. As 5-2's crew was in the basement, the crew secured the power and utilities. The fire was knocked within 30 minutes. 5-2's crew then assissted other crews with salvage and overhaul. 5-2 was on scene for an hour before returning to service.
