Rescue Engine 5-2 responded shortly after dispatch with 4 volunteers on the Incident.
Chief 2 and Engine 23 arrived on the scene a short time later advising a 1 Story Commercial Building with smoke showing from Side "A". Chief 2 established the "Charlotte Hall Command" and advised all units they had a working fire in the front portion of the store. The crew from Engine 23 deployed an attack line into the structure to locate the seat of the fire.
Rescue Engine 5-2 arrived and positioned on Side "A" and was advised to stage on Three Notch Road and to send the personnel up to the scene. 5-2's crew then was assigned to assist in opening up for the attack crew. Fire was found involving 2 store shelves and extending into the attic area in the store room. Due to several units failing on the call, Ambulance 5-8 was added to the call with an additional 2 volunteers as a second BLS transport.
Due to possible Hazardous Materials Burning Command special called NDW Fire Station 13 to the call for Meters to check if there were any Hazardous Chemicals burning inside the structure. The crew from Station 13 arrived on location and metered the structure finding normal conditions and reading in the majority of the building.
The fire was placed under control within 30 minutes of the Fire Departments arrival and the assignment was scaled back to Station 2, Charles Engine 2, Charles Engine 5, Engine 73, Truck 7 and Charles Truck 3.
