Volunteers Run First Due Vehicle Fire

On Thursday, October 23, 2014, Benedict was alerted at 1517 for the vehicle fire on Animal Shelter Road. Rescue Engine 5-2 responded with 3. Enroute, 5-2 was advised that numerous calls were coming in for the reported large vehicle fire. Rescue Engine 5-2 arrived on scene to find a 1973 GMC RV fully involved. 5-2’s crew pulled a line and made a quick attack. Tanker 5, with 2, arrived on scene and supplied 5-2 with water. The fire was under control within 5 minutes. 5-2’s crew then began overhaul operations. Once the mop up operation ended, Tanker 5 returned to service and 5-2 remained on scene until the fire marshal arrived. Units returned to service at 1732.
