Benedict Fills In For Baltimore City

By EMS Captain Francis Griffin IV
November 20, 2014

On the morning of November 20th, as members of Baltimore City Fire Department prepared to say their good byes to Fire Safety Officer Lieutenant James Bethea, members from Benedict traveled to Engine 20/Truck 18's quarters. Engine 5-1 filled in for Engine 20. Lieutenant James Bethea passed away last week on duty. Like most within the brotherhood, 5-1's crew felt the need to show respect for the fallen. The fill in gave members from Engine 20/Truck 18 a chance to attend the funeral and to say their good byes. During the fill in, 5-1 ran 4 calls. The engine crew ran a medic local, a flooding condition, first arriving engine on a working basement fire, and another medic local. Engine 5-1 cleared the fill in around 3 pm. Many thanks to the members of Engine 20/Truck 18 for allowing us into your home and making the crew feel welcomed.

Units: Engine 5-1
