On July 3, 2010 at approximately 1:34 AM, the Benedict Volunteer Fire Department was alerted to the 40,000 block of Water View Drive in Golden Beach for the working house fire. Engine 5-3 (Chief 5A Kerrigan) responded with 4 personnel and Tanker 5 (F/F J.Willett) responded with 2 personnel. Engine 2-3 was the first arriving to find a 1 story house fully involved including with three vehicles burning and exposure problems on both sides of the house. Engine 5-3 arrived to help company 2's crew with an additional hand line around thr back of the house. Crews worked for several hours to control the blaze and eventually perform salvage and overhaul. Additional firefighters were called in after the amount of overhaul became apparent. Engine 5-3 cleared at 5:53 AM.

Firefighters from Hughesville, Mechanicsville, Benedict, Waldorf, Hollywood and Avenue operated on this scene.

On a side note, as Waldorf Engine 31 was leaving the fire ground, they came across another working fire on Golden Beach Road approximately 1/2 mile from the first fire. Benedicts Engine 5-2 was alerted to respond on that call.
