| On March 1st, at 1435, Engine Company 5 was alerted to the undetermined fire at Beuchert Place. Rescue Engine 5-2 (Captain White) responded with five personnel and Engine 5-5 was specialed by command (Chief 2 M. Carrol). Units from Company 2 arrived on scene and found a trailer fully involved. Due to the heavy rains from the day before, access to the trailer was cut off. Rescue Engine 5-2 (RE52) arrived on scene while the remainder of the assignment was placed inservice and replaced with brush trucks and tankers. RE52's crew walked to a field about a half mile from the road to control the spred of the brush fire caused by trailer. Hughesville's crew and 5-2's crew began to contain the fire with little to no water. Brush trucks from Waldorf and LaPlata made there way back and hit the hot spots. 5-2's crew then made their way to the trailer to assist with overhaul operations. The crew hit hot spots with a booster line from Engine 14-4. Once the hot spots were hit, 5-2 returned to service at 1700. |
