Friday March 22, 2013 at 1715 hours, Rescue Engine 5-2 was alerted for the Working House Fire in Saint Leonard. First arriving units reported heavy fire showing from a 2-story residence. Engine companies extended multiple lines into the first floor where several rooms were found to be on fire. The entire second floor & attic were fully-involved with fire already breaking through the roof. The fire was quickly knocked down and units began to make their way upstairs until they realized the stairs had been compromised and burned through. Ladders that had been deployed & extended to the front and rear of the structure were utilized for firefighters to extend lines to the second floor, gaining entry through the windows and quickly knocking down all fire. Benedict's crew was assigned RIT for 10 minutes then half the crew made their way to the second floor to begin overhaul and hot spot extinguishment. The second half of the crew did overhaul to the first floor. Rescue Engine 5-2 operated on the fireground until 1930 hours.
