On Saturday, May 2, EMS Utility 5 traveled to the Charles County Fairgrounds for the Southern Maryland Volunteer Fireman's Association carnival. EMS Utility 5 provided EMS coverage for the carnival from 12:00pm to 9:00 pm. No incidents were reported during the stand by.

While the EMS Utility was on stand by, other members participated in the Southern Maryland Meeting and Banquet held at Newburg VRSFD. When all crews returned to the station, the rest of the night was spent cleaning apparatus for Sunday's events.

On Sunday, May 3, members traveled to Newburg to participate in the SMVFA parade. Command 5, EMS Utility 5, Engine 55, Engine 51, and Foam Tanker 5 staged at the parking lot of Piccowaxen Middle School until the start of the parade. Crews spent the time cleaning and detailing. Once the units finished the parade, units went to the fairgrounds for the fire and EMS games. Benedict participated in tug-a-war, battle of the buckets, bucket brigade, and quick dress. After the events, the awards were then handed out. Foam Tanker 5 came home with 2nd best appearing tanker. Great work shown by the members during the weekend.

Thank you Bel Alton VFD and Newburg VFD for the hospitality given during the convention.
