On Tuesday, May 19th, Benedict Volunteers as well as other surrounding companies were dispatched to Prince Frederick Road in the area of the Benedict Bridge for the motor vehicle collision with subjects trapped. Rescue Engine 52 (T. Shoemaker) and Chief 5 (B. Cusick) responded from Station 5. Both units arrived on scene and found a two vehicle accident with heavy damage to both vehicles. Chief 5 established the Benedict Bridge Command and RE52 went to work figuring out the situation. RE52 found that there was no entrapment but one patient that needed immediate attention. Units from Hughesville and Prince Frederick arrived on scene to assist with stabilizing vehicles, traffic control and patient care. Of the three vehicle occupants, one was flown priority 2 to Prince Georges Shock Trauma and one was taken by ground to Calvert Memorial priority 3. Calvert Engine 21 covered the landing zone for Eagle 2. All other units returned to service while Company 5 stayed on scene to assist with scene lighting and cleanup.
