During the month of April, a member from Benedict VFDRS participated in the Structural Collapse Class. The Class was hosted by the La Plata Volunteer Fire Department and was taught by the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. The class instructed students on the different types of buildings, collapses, causes, and rescue techniques used for a collapse rescue. The class involved a few classroom lectures and a few days full of hands. At the end of the class, one final scenario was set up and the class worked together to complete the task just like a real emergency. This class is one of MFRI's most strenuous, challenging classes but is the most rewarding. Congrats to EMS Deputy Chief Frank Griffin and congrats to Collapse Class 2016.
