On Saturday Dec. 28, 2003 at 2300 hours the Charles County Fire and EMS Communications Center alerted units from Benedict, Hughesville and the Charles County Medic Unit for a pedestrian struck on Prince Frederick Rd. in the area of Allens Acres and Toyes Inn. Ambulance 28 (Hughesville) was the first to arrive and found a male patient laying in the middle of the road semi-conscious with multiple injuries. Engine 52 and Ambulance 58 arrived moments later and Chief 5 established the Prince Frederick Rd. command. A helicopter was requested by command for patient transport, as was a prompt police response due to an agressive crowd forming around the incident scene. The patient was packaged and transported by Amb. 28 to the nearby landing site where Trooper 7 was awaiting their arrival to transport the patient by air to an area trauma facility. Units from Benedict returned to service at 2347 hours. The patients condition was unknown at the time of this story.

Units: Engine 52, Engine 53 (landing site), Ambulance 58 and Chief 5.

Mutual Aid: Ambulance 28 (Hughesville), Medic 1 (Charles County Medic Unit), Trooper 7, Charles County Sheriffs Office and the Maryland State Police.
