| On Friday, January 5th, 2007 Sergeant Billy White, and Firefighter/EMT J.T. Hutchinson, along with Cadet Member Brandon Thomas, traveled to Marbury in Utility 5 to participate in a live burn training with the crews from Company 8. Everyone arrived at the burn house at approximately 4:15 pm and finished preparing, stretching the lines that would be used for the burn, and other minor things. Company 8 had a few less experienced fire fighters that participated in the first burn evolutions. After this was completed, the "senior" members then participated in their own burn. The older members pushed the limits of themselves and some portions of their gear. The older members train in this manner so that they know what their limits are, and what kind of heat the human body can take, in the event that they are in a situation where something goes wrong. Each member gains valuable knowledge of fire progression and behavior while participating in live burn training. The members would like to thank Chief 8, Chief 8-A and the members of Company 8 for allowing us to participate in the live burn training. |
