On Febuary 26th, 2007 at 1852 hrs Company 5 was alerted to Mutual Aid to St. Mary's county at 37767 Market Drive in Mechanicsville for the Commercial Building fire. Rescue Engine 5-2 (OIC Fire Fighter/EMT Sean Kerrigan) responded within minutes. Mechanicsville Chief 2 arrived on location with a 3 story commercial multiple occupancy with nothing showing. Engine 2-3(Mechanicsville) and Engine 2-3(Hughesville) arrived simultaneously laying lines from the hydrant. Units began investigating a mild odor of smoke in the Suite used for the St. Mary's Hospital Express Care. Engine 224(Mechanicsville Station 22) arrived and laid supply line from Engine 2-3's line to another hydrant due to the original hydrant of choice being out of service. Once water supply was secured units began to stage on Market Drive per Chief 2. Rescue Engine 5-2 arrived and provided scene lighting while units awaited the arrival of Truck 3(Waldorf). Upon the arrival of Truck 3, the crew was asked to ladder the roof and check the HVAC units. Nothing was found to be a cause for the odor, and feeling there was no source within the building units began picking up. Mechanicsville Chief 2 held the Market Drive Command. Rescue Engine 5-2 assisted Hughesville with racking their line and then returned to service at 1935hrs.
