Extrication Drill

By Chief Sean Kerrigan
May 27, 2004

On Thursday May 27, at the department weekly drill, the Benedict Volunteers practiced their extrication skills. With the help of a grade-all, we made the damage to the car more realistic adding a little more challenge to participating members. While the ambulance crew treated an ejected person, the Engine crew stabilized the vehicle and began using various hand tools and hydraulic tools to remove the entrapped victim. The drill lasted approximately 1 hour, 30 minutes including a critique following the drill. Many lessons were learned and the members are eager to practice their training in the field.

Units: Engine 5-2, Amb. 5-8, Chief-5, Chief 5-A, and Chief 5-B
