November 16, 2013

On Friday, Nov. 15, Benedict’s Tanker was alerted for the brush fire in Hughesville’s first due. Tanker 5 (J. O’Neill) responded driver only. First arriving units advised they had a possible shed fire with several tires on fire and extension to the woods. This started an additional brush truck and class A pumper. Engine Company 5 was alerted to the call. Engine 54 (D. Johnson) responded with 3. When 54 arrived, the crew took position to the rear of a 200X200 woods fire. The crew then pulled the booster line and started hitting the hotspots. Other crews on scene utilized the 1 ¾ line off Tanker 5. Once the flames were contained, 54 then assisted other units with over haul and clean up. 54 and Tanker 5 operated on scene for a little under an hour.

Units: Engine 5-4, Tanker 5
