On January 1st, the Benedict Volunteers lost a dear friend. Billy Sheriff was a dear friend of the department. Billy worked on the alerting system for the department and many other departments in the area. Though out the years, Billy and his wife became an extended family to the department. . It was never a rare sight to catch Billy sitting in a chair surrounded by the members, just telling stories. A lot was learned by talking to Billy. Our prayers and condolences go to his family and friends.
