For the first time on Saturday March 8, 2004, Benedict had FIT testing done. A company called Emergency Education Inc. came to station 5 to start fit testing our members to meet the OSHA and NFPA standards. With this, each running member received an SCBA AV3000 mask. The masks were part of the FEMA assistants to firefighters grant. Each member had to demonstrate how to put a bottle on properly and identify all parts of the SCBA. Members also went through a series of movements to check for a proper seal. Now that this is done each member will have a personal mask to provide for their safety.
