On Sunday May 1, 2005 the members of the department participated in the 58th Annual Parade of the Southern Maryland Volunteer Fireman's Association. While there the department entered two teams into the Battle of the Buckets competition. The first team was eliminated in the first round, but the second team lasted an additional 4 rounds. The department also took home Best Appearing Tanker 1500 gallon capacity and over. While going through the parade the alternator went out on B-5, thanks to member Bryan Robertson and Chief Engineer Steve Cook from HVFD Co. 2 B-5 made it home on its own power.
